Will Young

“I have been associated with the charity for almost ten years now and the work they do is as much needed now as it ever was”

Will Young has a long association with The Eddystone Trust (Formally Positive Action South West) stretching back to his student days at Exeter University. As an active member of the RAG Committee of the Guild of Students he was one of two co-ordinators organising the yearly Safer Sex Ball. This event raises £20,000.00 annually for the charity.

He rose to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural Pop Idol contest, making him the first winner of the now-worldwide Idols-format franchise. Nine days after winning ITV’s Pop Idol, Will was on the phone offering to be a patron. As part of The Exeter Festival Will his first solo concert at Killerton House in July 2003 which raised £22,500.00.

William has gone on to support us with art work for ‘ArtAID’, a corporate make-over and re-launch, an auction of memorabilia on EBay and making an appearance at ‘A Christmas Celebration’ at Exeter Cathedral in 2008.

The members of Will’s official website have also been incredibly supportive and dedicated, constantly fundraising for us in inventive and innovative ways.
The financial support and awareness raising that Will’s patronage has brought to the organisation has been an amazing gift and words cannot express our gratitude.
