WORLD AIDS WEEK 2008
HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system. If untreated, it can lead to AIDS-related illness. In the UK there are currently approximately 80,000 people living with HIV.
World AIDS Week (WAW) (1 Dec to 7 Dec) is a time to raise awareness and to remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS.
Below are details of some of Eddystone’s World AIDS Week events this year.
Activities include:
- Street Collection - Totnes: Tues 2 Dec, 12 till 6pm
- Street Collection - Torquay: Weds 3 Dec, 12 till 4pm
- Street Collection - Plymouth: Thurs 4 Dec, 4 till 8pm
- HIV Information Stall: Thurs 4 Dec, 11 till 4pm, Plymouth City Centre
- City Centre Shops: Distribution of Red Ribbons & info all week
- Displays: Theatre Royal, Pavilions & Plymouth Central Library
- Information Stalls & Displays: University of Plymouth & City Colleges Plymouth & Torbay (TBC)
- HIV Awareness sessions to agencies: Throughout the week in Plymouth & Torbay facilitated by Client Services workers
- HIV Awareness sessions to LGBT venues: Throughout the week in Plymouth & Torbay facilitated by Gay Men’s Health workers
