What is AIDS?

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome - it is NOT HIV.

AIDS is a collection of illnesses that people with HIV may get if they are not receiving treatment or treatment is not working for them.

People DO NOT DIE OF HIV but of one of the illnesses classed as AIDS which include pneumonia, tuberculosis and some cancers that a normal healthy immune system would normally fight off.
