Women Torbay Womens Health Fair

Friday 3rd October, being the first Friday in the month of October, was the date for the 6th annual Torbay Women’s Health Fair.

The two hours allotted to setting up during 8-10am went in a flash, with much swapping of tables and re-organising, but at last everyone was happy with their allotted space.  At 10am (actually a couple of minutes before 10am!) a surge of women came through the doors.

The morning was very busy, with several groups of students and their tutors in attendance. The caterers had sold out of all sandwiches, rolls and cakes by 1.30 and reported being much busier than last year.

The therapists were again fully booked up, as were the beauty therapy students with their Nail Bar and the hairdressing students.  We had two tarot readers this year and they were also extremely popular.

66 different organisations took part, which made for a very full venue.

New stalls this year included: My Handmade Soaps, Green Elephant, Next Step Careers Advice, Alzheimers Association, Cardale’s Khazana, Weaving a Picture, Hopi Ear Candling, Herbal Life, Kathryn Blair Jewellery, Avon, Foxy Lingerie, Sure Start, Early Years, Cancer Research, Cancer Support, Oakhouse Foods, and A Gift for Life.

One delighted lady told me she had arrived at 10.30 for what she thought would be half an hour at the most (her first time at the Health Fair) and was just leaving at 2.30.

Hundreds of women took full advantage of the opportunities offered – bra measuring, blood pressure checks, body fat analysis, hair and beauty advice, health advice, food tasting and a whole range of therapies.  Lots of women commented on the “energy” within the venue.

I would like to thank everyone who took part; I know how hard you all worked to make the day a success.  There were many comments on how friendly and helpful all the stallholders were.
