Increase in Syphilis Cases of Syphilis are on the rise in the South West in men who have sex with men. Towards the end of last year there was a 3 fold increase in the number of cases of Syphilis reported in men who have sex with men across Devon and Somerset, and the indications are that this trend is continuing through 2018. We are working with Public Health England South West, North Devon Healthcare Trust who run the Walk-In Centre in Exeter and as one of the partners of SWISH in Somerset to raise awareness about the rise in the condition which can cause serious problems if left untreated. Check out our Syphilis Fact Sheet to find out more about the condition, how it is spread and how to reduce the risk of infection. If you are presenting with any of the symptoms listed or think you might have put yourself at risk then get yourself checked out at a sexual health clinic or contact us on 0800 328 3508 or 01752 254 406 to talk through your concerns and arrange a free and confidential rapid point of care test. Syphilis is easy to get...but easy to treat.
